Dundee Heritage Festival (10:00 AM)

Join Friends of the Fox River and Schweitzer Environmental Center at the year's Dundee Heritage Festival. We'll have a tent with games for children, information about our group, including volunteer opportunities, a schedule of coming events at the center and more!

The event is scheduled for Saturday 10 - 6 and Sunday 10 - 5.

It's Our River Day - Algonquin Illinois (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM)

On Saturday September 19, 2015, The Environmental Defenders of McHenry Coiunty and the Village of Algonquin sponsor their annual "It's Our River Day" celebration and clean up.

The Friends of the Fox River will join Dundee Township in presenting their efforts at a table and joining forces for shoreline and on the water cleanups. SEE BELOW for more information.*

Both Gary Swick, president of Friends of the Fox River and Sue Harney, Dundee Township Supervisor will speak.

The event runs from 1 - 4:00 p.m. at Cornish Park in downtown Algonquin.

Parking is available in the municipal lot at South Harrison Street and Washington Street, as well as street parking in the neighborhood.

"It's Our River Days" is combined with Algonquin's Community 
Conservation Days and will be celebrated on September 19 2015. The 
river cleanup will be in Algonquin from Cornish Park to Fox River 
Shores. The land cleanup will be in Cornish Park and the surrounding 
areas. For the paddler: 12:30 pm car shift (if you can't make the
12:30 car shift but can make the 2:00 launch we can bring you back 
from the take out and do a reverse car shift) 1:00 pm event starts 
with speakers, booths, and demos from organizations such as 
Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, Friends of the Fox, Sierra 
Club and IPC/Watertrail Keepers/PSC 2:00 pm clean up starts-Land clean 
up in Cornish Park and surrounding areas-Water cleanup from Cornish 
Park to Fox River Shores General description of paddle route: Starts 
off very residential but does become more scenic with various parks 
along the way. Terrain varies from wooded to open prairie. Many types 
of birds can be spotted (turkey vultures, egret, hawks, cranes, 
herons, osprey, cormorants, ducks, etc.). The Fox River bike trail is 
along part of route on river left. Contact:
