2007 Friends of the Fox River (FOFR) Photo Contest Details & Entry Form

FOFR's annual Photo contest begins this Friday, June 1st. We are looking for entries from both amateur and professional photographers. This year's theme is "Your Fox River Watershed."

Photo Contest Details

Judging: Announcement of Winners will take place on Monday, October 10th, 2007.

Winners: A reception will be held for contest winners at Friends of the Fox River's Annual Meeting on Nov. 12, 2007. The winning photographs will be organized in a traveling exhibit that will show throughout the Fox River Watershed.

Contest Deadline: Friday, September 7th, 5:00pm - absolutely no exceptions!

Content: We are looking for photos that best convey the theme represented in four different catetories:

• People Experiencing Nature;
• Wildlife;
• Landscapes; and
• River Rescues (includes cleanups, planting, etc.)

Photo Contest Divisions:

Amateur - Youth 14 - 18 yrs
Amateur - Adults - 19 yrs and up
Professional - entrant has been paid for Photography/Graphic Design/Digital Images

Format: Entries must be submitted on traditional film stock or as a digital photo. Photos must printed on high quality photo stock paper. ALL PHOTOS MUST BE MOUNTED. ENTRIES NOT MOUNTED WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

Printing and Mounting Instructions: Photos should be printed on high-quality 8" x 10" photo stock paper and mounted on 10" x 12" matte board. Photos can be adhered to matte board using mounting spray, tape, glue or tack mount.

Traditional Film Photo Specs:

• Either Black and White or Color prints are okay;
• Photos should be mounted, 8" x 10" prints only;
• Should be submitted on photographic (film) stock.
• Should not be altered (other than resizing or cropping) using any software applications, tools.
• Place a label on the back side of the photo, to include the following:
  
  
  1. Your Name, Address and Phone Number
  2. Contest Division (see above)
  3. Category (see above)
  4. Format (B&W or Color)
  5. Location (e.g. McHenry Dam, McHenry, IL)
  6. Date of Photo
  7. Title of Photo (if applicable)

Additional Specs for Digital Photos:

• Should be a high-quality print on photo stock paper and formatted to 8" x 10" paper size.
• An unmodified, electronic file must accompany the submission.
• The digital photo should be at a resolution of 5000 pixels (5 megapixels).
• Should not be altered (other than resizing or cropping) using any software applications, tools.

The Fine Print:

1. Only two entries per person per category.
2. Do not send original photos. Materials will not be returned.
3. Photos must not be more than 3 years old.
4. You will retain any existing copyrights to your photos.
5. By submitting your photo, you grant FOFR permission to post photo submissions on the FOFR website, or to use in FOFR publications, marketing or fundraising materials. All photos used will receive captioning where allowed.
6. I agree to save and hold harmless FOFR from any dispute arising related to use or ownership of any photographs I submit. Further, I release FOFR from any liability whatsoever that arises from its lawful use of the photographs I submit.
7. FOFR is not responsible for any material that is lost, damaged or misdirected in the mail or while in our possession.
8. All decisions by the judges are final.
9. Any submission that does not meet the above criteria, will not be considered.
