  • Monitor With Your Mother Event
  • Annual Mothers Day Celebration
  • Forget the Flowers, Bag the Brunch, and Can the Candy.

Try something different on Mothers Day. Join Friends of the Fox River on Mothers Day, May 13, 2007, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., for our 8th annual Monitor with Your Mother celebration. This event has now become a tradition for many families as a way to celebrate their Mothers and our Mother Earth at the same time.

Due to such strong response, last year’s featured guest, Carlo Hawk Walker has been invited him back to share his Native American wisdom as it relates to our work of protecting the Fox River. Also invited to address the attendees is a local developer specializing in “sustainable communities.” Along with them will be words from local governmental representatives and a few surprise guests.

Agency professional partners and Dundee-Crown High School students will offer you the opportunity to take Mom down the Stream of Knowledge to learn about our watershed and earn Mom a special gift. The children will enjoy face painting and snow cones, and it seems everyone enjoys the chance to paddle on the Fox.

Bring the whole family to celebrate Mothers Day & teach Mom how to protect water quality. This is an outdoor / rain or shine event, held at Fox River Shores Forest Preserve on Williams Road in Carpentersville. For more information, contact Monitoring Network Director Gary Swick @ 847-426-1322 or swick@mc.net.

Friends of the Fox River’s mission is to preserve, restore and protect the Fox River Watershed’s resources by connecting people with nature through education, research, restoration and advocacy.
